Two-Layer Gluten-Free Dog Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 16 oz (4 cups) K9Cakery Gluten-Free Cake Mix
  • ½ cup coconut oil (or butter, ghee, tallow, sour cream, etc.)
  • ¾ cup milk or water
  • 3 large eggs (or substitute with apple sauce)
  • Optional: Flavoring of choice (like peanut butter, pumpkin, or vanilla)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325-350°F*
  2. Prepare pans: Lightly coat two 8-inch nonstick or silicone pans with cooking spray.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the coconut oil, milk or water, eggs (or apple sauce), and optional flavoring.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: In a separate large bowl, slowly add the liquid mixture to the 16 oz of K9Cakery Gluten-Free Cake Mix. Stir gently until a smooth batter forms. Do not over mix.
  5. Pour batter into pans: Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Tap the pans lightly on the counter to distribute the batter evenly.
  6. Bake: Place the pans on the middle oven rack and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  7. Check for doneness: Insert a toothpick into the center of the cakes. If it comes out clean, the cakes are done.
  8. Cool: Allow the cakes to cool before serving or frosting.
